Installation of Eleven Backflow Devices – Fire Suppression System – Luke AFB, AZ
UCC was contracted by Luke AFB under a sole source 8(a) negotiated contract for the installation of eleven new backflow devices of various sixes at different locations throughout Luke AFB. UCC is responsible for all permitting, coordination with the Fire Department to take the fire suppression system off line during installation, excavation, installation of the new backflow preventer, installation of thrust blocks, backfilling, compaction, compaction testing, surface restoration and as Built drawings. Surface restoration is concrete curb and gutter and landscaping. Once a water outage is approved UCC has to complete the project quick and safely as the building water fire system is not operational. With carefully planning and execution UCC forecast each installation will have the fire system out of service to two days (ensuring adequate time for the thrust blocks to cure). This project has had its first installation on 10 and 11 March 2010 and UCC was successful in coordinating and scheduling to meet the two day maximum outage allowance. This project is currently forecasted to finish on time and on schedule.
